2. Substantive Examination

Utility models in Russia are subject to substantive examination. The examiner evaluates compliance with patentability requirements.

3. Grant Decision and Patent Issuance

To proceed to grant:

• the registration fee must be paid;
• the fee for the first five-year maintenance period must be paid.

Deadline: 2 months from receipt of a grant decision.

Requirements for Filing a Patent Application
